Our Member of the Month for March 2019 is Shane Truesdale of Eugene, Oregon.

Shane says: "Hello fellow Cultist. As a young boy growing up in various small towns in the Pacific North West I grew up with somewhat of a fascination with the Occult and all things related. From Books, to Movies and Music. My mind was eager to the point of being over anxious for the next thing to spark my interest in the genre. Now an Adult, I’m a collector and constantly looking for the next thing that will ignite that spark in me, while still a serious fan of the older gems in Scientific Fiction and Horror. I’m proud to be a Member of the H.P. Lovecraft Historical Society, and be given the opportunity to meet others with like interests. Keeping Lovecraft’s works alive and well for Future generations."

Masks Super Deluxe!

  • March 1, 2019

It's official! The Masks of Nyarlathotep Super Deluxe Limited Edition is now being shipped! We are continuing to manufacture all the components as quickly as we can. Many of them are entirely hand made and they do take some time. We thank all of you who have been patiently waiting.

Game Night

Call of Cthulhu Game Night!

  • February 21, 2019

Five intrepid investigators joined Keeper of the Arcane Lore Sean Branney at HPLHS Headquarters last night to play a new, yet-to-be-published scenario from our friends at Chaosium. Although Sean says it was an excellent group of role-players, they didn't make it to the end, so there will be a follow-up session in the near future. Sean plans to run the scenario again at CarcosaCon in Poland next month!

Masks Cast

Masks Cast Gathers

  • February 10, 2019

Members of the cast of "Masks of Nyarlathotep" and friends gathered at HQ on a suitably rainy Sunday to hear excerpts of the show and pick up their personal copies. Because of the large size of the group and the nature of the recording schedule, many of the cast members never actually met while working on the show, and some of them met for the first time at this gathering! We thank each and every one of them for their tremendous generosity of talent.

Our Member of the Month for February 2019 is Nathan Darling of Whitesboro, Texas.

Nate says: "I have been reading Lovecraft and associated authors for years, and have always been a bibliophile. There always seem to be like minded folks around, and this group is a fantastic way to get to see how widespread HPL's influence is, I feel like less of a misfit. Thank you again for this singularly peculiar, and spectacular, award."

NOW SHIPPING!

  • January 17, 2019

The "Masks of Nyarlathotep" CDs are back from the replicator and the Shipping Shoggoth has begun sending them out to pre-order customers! We are stuffing sleeves full of the many prop documents as quickly as possible, and are grateful for your patience as we work through the backlog. We're very excited to be sending these out!

We anticipate beginning to ship the Deluxe Edition early next week.

There is still some manufacturing work being done on the Super Deluxe Edition, but we hope to be shipping that within just another few weeks as well. All pre-order customers should have received a link to download the audio in the meantime. If you didn't get one don't hesitate to let us know and we'll sort it out.

Melbourne Bonus Stamps

HPLHS in Australia!

  • January 10, 2019

Our very own Sean Branney is going to be attending some Lovecraftian events in Australia this month, and he'll be bringing along some bonus stamps for card-carrying members who drop by to say hello.

Sean will be joining his hosts from Chaosium for a special screening of The Call of Cthulhu at the Sun Theatre in Yarraville on Thursday, Jan 24 at 7pm. Sean will introduce a screening of the film (and its amusing making-of featurette) and follow it with a Q&A session. The HPLHS doesn’t often make it to Australia, so don’t miss this chance to see a great Lovecraft film in a great venue. CLICK HERE for details.

Sean will also be in attendance at Arcanacon at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre January 26 and 27. Join in for Call of Cthulhu™ and other great role playing games.

Card-carrying HPLHS members can get special bonus stamps for attending either or both events.

Our Member of the Month for January 2019 is Douglas Ward of Fitchburg, Mass.

Douglas says: "Thank you all for choosing me for this glorious honor of the HPLHS Member of the Month. I would like to thank the academy for all their votes.... wait, wrong award! I have been a fan of Lovecraft for many years since I was intrigued by the lore from Jingo by the late, great Sir Terry Pratchett. He mentioned Cthulhu in a kind of behind the making of the story while I was at a book signing I was lucky to see him at. Since then I have seen the connections HP has had in a whole slew of modern day writers.

I am lucky enough to live in Massachusetts and have been down to Providence to walk the same streets that HP had and have even visited his gravesite. When I was looking up places to visit I found about the store in Providence, the Lovecraft Art and Sciences, and it had the HPLHS website linked and I clicked on it and the rest is history!

I have almost the complete collection of the DART series (which I listen to almost daily as I drive) and have plastered my back window with many stickers! My job keeps me on the road and down in the Cape Cod and Providence area and reading and listening to the stories has opened up a whole new understanding of the area for me.

Thank you so much for what you have done for HP's stories and bringing it to life in a whole new way.

Happy New Year!

2018 was a busy year at HPLHS and 2019 is starting off with a bang. Best wishes to all for a wonderful new year.

Masks Complete!

  • January 1, 2019

We are very proud to announce that Dark Adventure Radio Theatre "Masks of Nyarlathotep" is finally complete. The MP3 download is now available. The CDs are at the replicator and we will begin shipping them as soon as they come back, hopefully within the next couple of weeks. We will make every effort to ship the Deluxe and Super Deluxe editions as promptly as possible. Both of them involve a fair amount of handmade manufacturing, so they won't go out quite as quickly as the Standard edition, but we expect to be shipping all three before January is out.

We thank our many patient supporters for sticking with us during the unexpectedly long process of producing the show. "Masks" weighs in at just over seven hours in total length, which is as much Dark Adventure as we usually produce in two years. This show is by itself as long as six normal-sized episodes, and it has been fiendishly difficult to keep it all straight.

In the northern hemisphere, tonight is the longest, darkest night of the year. Wishing you and yours peace and joy this season. For all our friends in the southern hemisphere, welcome to summer!

Our Member of the Month for December 2018 is Charleen Briggs of Parker, Colorado.

Charleen says: "I am super excited to have been randomly chosen for the honor of December member of the month! I never win things like this! The Others have gibbered in my general direction, and I am cautiously thrilled!

A little bit about me, besides being completely unlucky in contests and drawings: I enjoy obnoxiously singing Innsmouth sea shanties and solstice carols all year long while trying to keep my cats from summoning elder things while I’m away...above is a photo of one of the evil little demon-summoners, because they are much more photogenic than me. (My Innsmouth look is beginning to show...)"

DiTillio bequest

Thank you, Larry DiTillio

  • November 20, 2018

Larry DiTillio, one of the original authors of the celebrated Call of Cthulhu™ campaign Masks of Nyarlathotep, recently donated his collection of CoC materials to the HPLHS library. We are grateful not only for that gift, but for Larry’s extraordinary contribution to gaming which is Masks.
